this is my 5th time asking this question but i never really get the answer im looking for. i need peoples opinion on where to ski in colorado that is within a 2 to 3 hour range of denver. the places that ive gotten that sound pretty cool and im one who loves scenery so as long as there are really big, amazing mountains. im good where ever i ski. i love nature. anyway, the places ive gotten are copper mountain, vail, breckenridge, loveland, winter park/mary jane. i heard that vail is incredible and i just saw the pictures for it. so please, i need serious opinions for this. im going in february but i like to get my information asap and i want to make sure i make the best choice possible when i go.Opinions of best places to ski?
I highly suggest Winter Park. It's the closest in driving time to Denver, the only trouble getting there is the drive over Berthoud Pass, but it's a well-maintained pass that was just renovated several years ago, so really it's not too much of a problem. Winter Park has many small areas sprawling over several hills/ridges, and also has a high-speed 6-pack chairlift that goes to the very top. If you look at a map (at www.skiwinterpark.com) you'll see there's many things for everybody. If you're into black trails, Mary Jane is absolutely littered with them. If you like the blues, the Parsenn Bowl area is a great choice. It's all on there.
Copper mountain is a nice resort also. I haven't been there recently enough to give a nice description though.. it's just a tad longer of a drive away and is directly off of I-70.
