I will be going to ski at Copper Mountain, CO in Feb'2010 and need help in answering questions around ski rentals. Following is the link to the ski packages offered at the place I plan to go

*** Info About Me ***
I have been skiing for about 3-4 yrs in Michigan. I would say I am an intermediate skier. Last year I went to ski at Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, NV and had a lot of fun. I was able to ski the blues with out any trouble. I do not think I would be able to do the blacks there. The runs in Michigan are shorter/easier, for comparison the blacks in normal Michigan ski places compare to the tougher-blues at the bigger resorts.
***My Questions***
1. What is the difference between the following packages
Sport vs Demo vs Performance
2. Give my information above what package is suitable for me
ThanksDifference between Demo Ski vs Sport Ski Packages @ Copper Mountain?
The sport ski package is for beginners, not enough precision in the ski for someone who has skied more than a few days. This is a very soft, forgiving ski (BYS) it is a rental program ski for the first time skier.
A demo ski is typically a new top of the line ski from different makers and usually in limited availability.
The performance ski package is usually a better quality ski than the sport/beginner package but not a demo ski. Is suggest you get the performance package and upgrade if you wish, the sport (BYS) is hardly worth your time.
The "sport ski" designation depends on the shop. It can mean anything from beginner to intermediate. Usually the top in the rental line is called "premium" or "advanced" until you get to "demo". Demo rentals are almost always a ski that the shop also sells. They are almost always an advanced to expert ski. In most cases, shops will deduct 2-3 days of demo rental from the purchase price of a ski. So you might demo 3 different skis and when you buy one, they knock off the cost of your 3 days of rental. Demos are usually a higher priced rental too.Difference between Demo Ski vs Sport Ski Packages @ Copper Mountain?
Sport package is like renting a car from Hertz...a plain car...nothing fancy...been driven by hundreds of people before...a couple dings and scratches.
Performance package is like renting a bit better car from Hertz.
Demo package is like test driving a car from a Mercedes or BMW dealership. They're skis you might like to actually buy at the end of the day. Unlike test driving a car, you have to pay to demo skis, but if you do buy them, what you paid to demo them is applied to the purchase price. Usually you can swap one pair for another as many times as you'd like for no additional charge.
I would say that if you're interested in buying skis sometime soon, absolutely do the demos so that you can have a better idea of what you want to buy. But if not, choose from either of the other two options. You can probably improve your skills a little faster on the performance package than on the sport package.
