A friend who is a DVC member has fallen on some hard times and cannot afford the trip this time around and has offered to let us use it instead.
We were thinking of trying something different and wondered how many points it takes for a cruise. Also was wondering what all the points cover for the crusie and what extra out of pocket we would have.

It's kinda confusing. There's many variables. As a general rule, cash vs. points should be scrutinized. DVC points can be significantly drained in lieu of doing DCL. It's not uncommon to be "pointless" for at least 2-yrs after such a trip. Some choose to use points for just 1-person, whereas the other person pays cash. This seems to be the more prudent decision.
