I been a one cruise ship four years ago. The ship was monarch of the seas on the Royal Caribbean. My sister is planning a 18th birthday cruise for her son next March. We are curious how the other cruise line compare to Royal Caribbean. If anyone had been on Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruise, Disney Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise or any other cruise from the United States of America please let me know what you think of them. What is the best Cruise Line?
Rankings:
1. Princess Cruises
2. Holland America Line
3. R.C.I.
4.Carnival
5. N.C.L.
I enjoyed Princess the most. They had okay food, good service, big ships, clean ships, well designed ships, a variety of things to do.
Holland America Line was my second best cruise. The teens club wasn't amazing, but the basketball court was nice. The food was mediocre, the service was great, they had great movie choices unlike R.C.I. which played the same 10 movies over and over again, smaller ships, clean ships althoguh not well designed and some things to do.
R.C.I. had no movie choices. I ended up watching G.I. Joe four times. They had bad food, mediocre service, big ships, clean and well designed (better than Princess) ships.
Carnival had amazing food, good service, big ships, cleaniness was okay, crowded, and the design was bearable.
N.C.L had terrible food, terrible service, old ships, terrible cleaniness, not crowded, but there was nothing to do. I played Wii and table-tennis the whole time.
If you can get hold of Douglas Ward's travel guide published annually by Berlitz, called "Ocean Cruising %26amp; Cruise Ships", perhaps from your local library, you can read about every single cruise Company and every cruise ship afloat. Ward is reckoned to be the World's foremost authority on cruising.
He rates all of them on a star and points system, detailing all on-board amenities and the age and interests best suited to various groups of travellers, e.g. if ideal for families, people who are physically-challenged, best choice for children, etc.
Celebrity score highest out of the "Big 7" for Cuisine and Service, for example and back in 2005 (my last purchased copy of the book) the Berlitz five-stars-plus Club position was awarded to the Europa (Hapage Lloyd Cruises) with 1,858 points out of a possible 2,000. Monarch of the Seas rated 3 stars plus with an overal score of 1,394.
The comments about "Easy Cruise" were amusing - "a no-frills, no-facilities, no service, no space, no-nothing cruise" !!!What is the best Cruise Line?
Hi there
I am a travel agent and book on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and NCL mostly, now and then we'll book Princess and Celebrity - from all my research and the reviews of my clients, I like Royal Caribbean the best.
The ships are top notch, lots of activities onboard, great amenities, dining etc - they offer a lot of great itineraries with lots of shore excursions.
Let me know if you need more help or want more info on finding the best ship and cruise for your family!

I have been on both Norwegian and Disney. Out of those two, I would say Disney is the better cruise line. Disney was more friendly to the guests. The Disney ship just seemed cleaner then the Norwegian ship. One thing I liked about the Norwegian ship was the freestyle cruising, or eat whenever and where ever you want.
Thats really a tough one because it depends on your taste, budget, activities and locations you want to explore. I put together a link below on the best cruise ships that explains the best in the world and what they have to offer from luxury to budget value to World destinations.
I would go with Carnival, I think they are cheaper, and you can pretty much do almost the same amount of things as you can do on RC.
All depends on what you are looking for.
18 yrs old, I'm thinking RCCL or Carnival.
Good luck.
