I have an audition with Disney Cruise Lines next week to serve as an Entertainment Host for guests. I passed the phone interview and will do the audition with other candidates in front of the Disney Recruiting team. I have tons of guest experience, media experience and 2 excellent reference letters. I am comfortable with the scripted material for the audition but there is ONE part that I cannot do:
The dancing. They want us to do the Hoedown Throwdown/Hannah Montana dance in front of the panel, dancing with the other audition candidates. And then on top of this we're expected to teach a 30-second portion of the dance to the group as if they're Disney Cruise Line guests. The clip is available online, but I tried learning the moves and can't. They're too fast and its hard to learn them when the people teaching you on screen say "move left" and it looks like they're moving right.
The Disney Recruiters did tell us not to worry about being professional dancers, and to just have fun and smile, but come on! If I mess this up, I'm worried they will pass on me to join they're team at sea. I'm willing to learn if someone can teach me, but this seems impossible. What are your thoughts? Are Disney recruiters lenient on this sort of thing? Please, any advice will be much appreciated.God, Will I get the job?
Not sure why you are addressing the initial question to a deity. Anyway.
They are going to hire professional, precise dancers. Just do your best. If you're not up to it, but you still want to do it, just keep practicing and go to the next audition. I have some experience with the company; you can audition as many times as you like. But you will need to meet high standards to get the job.
They are telling you to just have fun and smile because they know that's the way they'll get your best performance... if you are relaxed and having fun. And they want you to have fun, because that will read well to them and to the people you'll ultimately be performing for. So... just have fun. Don't worry too much about it. And do your best.
Good luck!
I just noticed you said it was to be a Host... that puts you in a better position. I was an Entertainment Host for them years ago, though not on the cruise line. We had a similar audition, and in that case the dancing was not a major deciding factor. So much the better! :)

when you talk to god does he respond and how does he do that exactly - does he speak your language? are talking to him telepathically or what - are you buddies - just how do youi define your relationship?
if you can't do a hoedown throwdown you're not gay enough to be a cruise host, sorry
When did the people on Y!A become God? Not that he's there.
You might try " disboard". Type the word on search. They are a Disney board and those people know everything Disney. I bet someone there can help you.
I can only suggest going to a Arthur Murray? dance school for a few lessons. Take the online clip with you.
Best of luck. Sorry I am not more help.
