They offered a cruise deal for the date and month I wanted this morning but tonight they do not offer it anymore, for whatever reason. I would rather book through travelocity because it let us pick the exact room we wanted, which I liked. Should I wait a couple days and see if travelocity offers my deal again or should I just book by the cruise line itself? It's for the new Disney cruise line that's coming out next year and rooms are filling fast so I don't know what to do. Both sites offer the same deal I just like that travelocity offers me to pick my room location, in the back of the boat, away from the swaying of the ship. Thanks! Why does travelocity not offer the same deal they offered this morning?
Don't know what the other site is but most of them allow you to pick the room, unless the cabin class doesn't let you pick the specific cabin.
If nothing else just book directly with Disney.
Travel companies can start and stop offers whenever they want to. My guess is that that promo was for a set number of bookings when enough people booked with that promo the promo was over.
Usually travel agents (like Travelocity) have the same deal as the cruise line, but may update their website more slowly. So you may see an expired offer on their site, but when you actually try to book it, the system won't let you. That's probably what happened to you. Or they had a certain number of cabins reserved to them, but they are now sold. I would not expect the offer to come back.
By the way, the last place you want to be on a swaying ship is in the back. It's like a seesaw. The least amount of motion will be in the middle. The front and back will swing up and down.
Good luck. Why does travelocity not offer the same deal they offered this morning?
One thing you can try on Travelocity is to clear the cache in your browser. You may find that the deal you saw previously will come back. Or, it may be that demand has been high enough that the cruise line computers have raised the prices.
But as to choosing the exact cabin you want--any and every travel agent will let you do this. It's by no means exclusive to Travelocity. You can probably do better on price, though, if you shop around. Try this:
1. Go to http://www.cruisecompete.com
2. Create a quote request for the same ship and sail date. In the comments, note the Travelocity price that you're trying to beat. Several hundred agencies--including a number of Disney speciailists--will have immediate access to your request and can respond with price quotes.
3. You'll get e-mails when new quotes are submitted. Make sure you're comparing apples-to-apples on the prices (beware--Travelocity and some other sites adds additional costs on the final booking screen; CruiseCompete bids are required to include all charges so no surprises) If you get a better a deal that includes the cabin you want, you can read reviews of the agency offering the deal, and talk to them directly for more information to decide if you want to book.
Good luck!
I see this sort of thing happen a lot. It's not uncommon for vacation sites to change their prices multiple times a day. They are competing head-to-head with several other sites.
Even if you were to go directly to an airline's website to try to book a flight, it's not uncommon for the prices to change multiple times throughout the day.
It's a little bit of a gamble when you book on-line, because of the prices changing. With a lot of sites though, if you see what you think is a good deal, you can usually book and then have a certain amount of time where you may cancel before you are penalized. (This will vary from one site to another, so be sure to read the fine print before you click on the final option to purchase the trip.)
If you book something and then discover a better deal somewhere else, sometimes, depending on the company, they may match the price.
Usually if you see a great deal but try to come back to it later, only to find that the price has gone up, it's doubtful you'll see that lower price again.
