My fiance and I LOVE movies and are really kids at heart. We've always wanted to visit DisneyWorld, and so I was looking at vacation deals for the park and Disney Cruise Line.
I stumbled across packages for Weddings AND honeymoons and I absolutely LOVE the idea of getting married there! It's so US!
So my question is, for those of you who had a destination wedding, did you like it? Or do you wish you would've had a traditional wedding where lots of people could attend? And for those of you who didn't, what do you think the pros and cons would be?
Also, we would have a large reception when we got back.
Thanks for your input!Should we have a destination wedding?
This is YOUR WEDDING!! You should get married anywhere you want to and in any style you want to- hopefully you'll only get to do this once! I will say though about the whole Disney wedding experience- The wedding pavillion is absolutely gorgeous. It's right on the lagoon and you can stay in the Grand Floridian Hotel which is right next door and they do the whole day up special. Disney World is a great idea for a destination wedding because the odds of getting family to come knowing that they'll get to also visit Disney while they're there increase significantly. I hope that your wedding is just beautiful and everything you dreamed it would be! Don't forget to get your bride mouse ears! :)
A destination wedding would be awesome! In planning my non-destination wedding, I've realized that by having all your friends and family, the wedding thing becomes slightly political. A destination wedding would eliminate unwanted family/friends antics.....for the most part.
The reason I chose to have a traditional local wedding is because it was important to me that all of mine (and my fiance's) family be able to attend. They would have felt hurt that I went somewhere they couldn't afford.Should we have a destination wedding?
That would be totally cool! I would definitely read the small print if you are planning on getting married at Disneyworld (or Disneyland). When I talked to the consultant she said the minimum wedding packages cost around 25k.
Best of luck in whatever you decide, and hopefully some DW ladies will chime in soon :)
No have a very nice local wedding and use the destination for the honeymoon. Why make family and friends travel? Destination wedding are for spoiled rotten brats.
We had a destination wedding, and knowing what I do now, I wouldn't ever recommend anything else. It was one of the best things we've ever done.
Sure you should !! This is your day, who do youu want to please?? Just don't be offended if close family and freinds are not able to join you.
I love my destination wedding. We wanted a beach wedding with only our family and our very close friends and we got that. No stress, no fuss, no bloated guest lists and the stress that comes along with it.
Destination wedding are fun fo for those that have families and friends that can afford to come. When choosing a DW you pretty much give up the idea of having everyone that you know and their neighbor there. DW are intimate by nature.
Some people with health ailments or financial difficulties probably would not attend an you have to understand that. Also, this may present a problem with you WP because on top tuxes and BM dresses, they also have to come with airfare, hotel, rental care, etc. etc. and not a lot of people can afford that, especially how the economy is.
We love our wedding and totally recommend it.
Good luck
