I am 29 years old and recently quit my job for Disney Cruise Lines because I hated the environment. With no money, I was allowed to move back home to my parents house, who let me live in a room on the second floor rent free and also added me to their family plan. It's nice of them, but I cannot stand my fahter! He is a 63 year-old man who recently retired from his curating job, and NEVER LEAVES the house! Every morning I wake up, it doesn't matter what time it is- I hear him clearing his throat in the kitchen. "Ehhhhh ummmm." "Ehhhh emmmmmm." It's like- dude shut the **** up! It's so annoying.
Currently a new cruise company has offered me a job on their line. My parents were happy with this since the start date is soon. However, I just got offered another interview with a better cruise company. The problem is their interview date is after my start date begins with the former cruise line. Because I liked how the new cruise line sounded, I rejected my job offer with the former. When I came in the kitchen (where else?) and told my Dad the good news, he got very upset and scolded me- telling me I should take the job with the cruise line that pays less money and has a worse position.
"Dude, it pays less money!" I shouted at him, now even more bothered by his irritating presence.
"You take what they offer you. And don't complain." This from a man whose first job out of college WAS his career, and paid well.
"You never had to take **** jobs like me old man! I ******* hate you! Just die already, ugh!"
"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!" My father screamed at me, clearing his throat afterwards.
So my Mom now is pissed at me, telling me I had no right to talk to my judgmental father like that. And they want me to move to my Aunt's place until I get a job. I told her "Fine honey, you deal with the annoying man in the kitchen!" So here's my beef:
1) Why was my father so upset with my grown decision? I'm an adult, after all and this is MY life. I know for certain the new cruise company will hire me and I liked their benefits better.
2) Why does my father never leave the house? I don't give a **** if he's retired, you should still be active. But 95% of the time, he's home. It's so annoying.Why do I hate my Father?
Maybe your dad is just worried that you won't get the job. He may be afraid that if you don't get it another one won't be available. After you get the job, move out as soon as you can. Don't be around that negativity.
Since your dad is around so much, make sure that you go out and do something. Go for a drive, a walk or whatever. That way you won't have to be around him all the time.
Its seems that both of you want to have everything your own way (I am not saying thats a bad thing) It's just that your dad may not back down because he's doing his own thing in his own house.

You probably could have handled that better. You didn't need to yell at your father and you don't need to find every little thing wrong with him. After all you said "its MY Life" so, yes, you have the right you pick what ever job you want and your father doesn't really have a choice on the matter at your age, but as you said, your dad life is HIS life too. He can do what ever he wants.
You should be happy that your parents even let you have a place in their home. Some parents don't even talk to their children and yet you continue to find a reason to be angry with yours.
