Before judging me, please read my entire question.
I got a call a week ago from Delta Airlines to interview for their Flight Attendant position. If I was good enough for a second interview, they would fly me to Atlanta. Well I figured with all my experience, I would be a shoo-in. Not only do I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, I ALSO have over 4 years experience as a Facilitator Tour Guide at a world famous museum, and performed for Disney Cruise Lines. I have a **** ton of experience working with the public. And on the latter, I was professionally trained in safety, and even earned a certificate.
The lady who interviewed me on the phone appeared unimpressed as I rattled off these accomplishments, and remained poker toned. I was then asked numerous questions about how I would react in certain situations. One of the questions was "What do you do if a guest asks to go to the bathroom but the pilot has the fasten seat belt lit?" I simply said "Well I would calmly tell them they couldn't due to safety regulations, but if they needed further assistance I would see what I could do." Like, WHAT THE **** else was I suppose to say? When asked about how I handled safety in my past job, I glorified the response with how I was a Traffic Controller aboard the now 5th biggest Cruise Ship in the world (Disney Dream), and had to escort guests to their lifeboats.
Apparently this just wasn't good enough for lame Delta Airlines, because three days later I got an email telling me unfortunately I did not pass the interview and they had no position for me at this time. Bullshit! Something is up? Can someone please tell me what I did wrong or if my resume just wasn't doing it? Are they expecting people with Masters Degrees and more then 10 years customer experience? I mean I've been working with the public since I was 18- and I'm almost 29 now. What gives?
And I have posted this question three other places, and guess what assholes have told me? That I come off arrogant and that they wouldn't hire me either, because apparently confidence is preceived as arrogance. Even though I thought confidence came off better then insecurity! So because I'm proud of what I've done, no one will hire me! Well then **** it, I'm going to kill myself! Suicide is the best option. Either a) I call Delta tomorrow and DEMAND to know why that ***** didn't like me enough to fly me to Atlanta for an interview or b) I slit my wrists tonight and take some vicodin. What do I do? Please help me, I'm desperate!I want to commit Suicide, Why?
OMG I read all your story, that's awful!!!
OMG PLEASE do NOT commit suicide, if you do, you are letting them "win"!
listen listen, you were MORE THAN GREAT for that stupid job. it's delta airlines who are a bunch of f*cking pu55ies!!! I swear!! I've been a customer and they have neglected me, changed my flights, shuffled my hours...I was hassled by a worker at the chicago station, we didn't get our money back, we were made late since they changed the flights on us...
they are unprofessional pu55ies, you are BETTER than them, they don't deserve you. THEY* have a problem. not you. You are awesome.
ok read it again. you are awesome and THEY are the ones with issues. seriously you are super professional and have every right to be proud.
This is one job offer, don't let the DA get to you so much. There are more jobs out there, you will surely get a better job offer anyway.
You won't always impress everyone, as you might've noticed. Since childhood, children pick their friends, perhaps on unfair criteria, but they PICK. It's human nature. You failed once; get up and try again! Come on now, this has been ONE rejection. You have to rise from the ashes if you want a taste of success.
And if you kill yourself...Let's be honest, what will that accomplish? It won't get you the DA job. It won't get you another job. You don't want to take all of your opportunities in life away because of ONE thing gone wrong, do you? %26lt;3
You can call and ask them why they didn't take you. Don't demand. People treat polite people nicely, and especially if they feel as though they're being ASKED, so it's their choice to do what is asked.
Look at all your other accomplishments.
You're doing so well, are you going to let this take it all away?
I hope not.

Call and ask the status of the position. Companies are taking weeks and weeks to move from one stage to the next anymore. I have been waiting for an offer or rejection for 5 weeks now. When I emailed them, they said they were still making a decision. So who knows. But if you are seriously feeling suicidal call a help line because no job is worth killing yourself. You'll find something. It's not easy out here these days. And stay proud of your accomplishments, it's not arrogant. And the right company will appreciate your history not shun it. Lastly, recruiters are idiots. Don't let them get you down. Call HR directly and see how the process is going.
The only people who can answer your that question are the people from Delta.
Phone them and be persistent but still calm and friendly (don't use any of the ****s :)
Insist to speak to the person who made that decision. Tell them that your future applications will always fail if no one tells you the real reason why your app. was rejected so that you can work on improving that. Don't let them just say the standard sentence 'there where so many applications for the position and unfortunately...' Don't let them hang up before they told you the real reason.
And most important be calm and friendly.
After you know the real reason take the time to write a last letter addressed to the person who makes the decisions. Often these companies employ someone but notice after perhaps three months that they aren't right for the position and fire them again. So in your letter you tell this person again all advantages about you which would be beneficial for them if they had employed you. AND you write that they will notice that the candidate they have choosen to employ hasn't got your qualities and will not be as beneficial for Delta as you would be. AND that they can take your word for it and that you are prepared to prove it at any time.
From now on the worst thing that can happen is that nothing happens!
If you still want to kill yourself after this, then do it but it wold be a waste.
