Is Norwegian Cruise Lines okay to work for?

Before judging me, please read my entire question.

I am 30 years old and currently am living at home with Mom %26amp; Dad. I am doing so because I quit working for Disney Cruise Lines as a Entertainment Host due to mental exhaustion and bad management. The job sucked, I hated the long working days and the small, cramped quarters I had with a roommate. I have been living at home now for 3 months- and please don't say "Well you're 29, you should be supporting yourself, blah, blah, blah." This is 2011, and the economy sucks right now, and its perfectly normal for adults to live at home with their parents to save money. At least I don't have school loans.

Anyways, Norwegian Cruise Lines has offered me a job as a Youth Programs Counselor. It pays less then Disney, but according to the director I am going to work less hours then Disney, and only have 13 other colleagues in the department since apparently less kids go on Norwegian then Disney. At first I was excited about a new job- and so were my parents, but then I looked into it and here are my qualms. Feel free to agree or disagree, or add insight:

1) It's a 6 month contract, and the pay is lower then Disney. So I won't be banking as much, even though I'll have no bills or living expenses.

2) The destinations and ports of call are less then I expected: 7-14 day cruises to Alaska, Western Carribean, British Columbia %26amp; West Coast: Los Angeles to Vancouver, Southern Carribean from New York, and 14-day Western and Eastern Carribean from Miami. Where the hell is Europe on this agenda? Apparently the Pearl, the ship I'm assigned to, doesn't go to Europe at all! So are these destinations REALLY that appealing? They're all in America for God's sake.

3) Rumor has it Norwegian is a terrible company to work for. Disney employees told me they hated working on Norwegian. However, I hated working on Disney. And a lot of the employees who hated NCL were in restaurant or room service. I'll be a Petty Officer in Youth Programs, a different department with mostly Americans. Will I be better off? The excursions are supposedly less demanding then Disney's 3-4 day cruises with awful screaming brats. Is Norwegian Cruise Lines okay to work for?
I doubt that working on a cruise ship is for you.

You complain about everything what comes with working onboard a cruise ship (either on Disney or on NCL)

How can you complain about the itinerary of NCL, when Disney has one itinery they go!!!!!

You know, they keep people close to their home country, if they are not sure if they will fullfil the contract - so disembarking will not be such a hassle.
I'd say so. Thank you.Is Norwegian Cruise Lines okay to work for?
You have listed a lot of reasons for you to NOT take this job. The pay is not good, the destinations and ports are not appealing to you, and it sounds to me like you really don't like kids all that much. Do the kids and parents a favor and look elsewhere for a job.
