If you go to an Authentic "Asian Restaurant" and all the cooks are....?

a different nationality, then how do you know you are getting the real deal?



Example, I went to Benihanas and all the cooks where Latinos. Now, I have nothing against them I am Mexican my self but if I wanted to have food made by a Mexican then I go to a Mexican restaurant which I get plenty of on regular basis. Instead I went to a what is suppose to be authentic place to have Asian food and payed lots of money for and how could I have known it was the real deal? BTW, I also went to Stick and all the people where white....I'm confused : (If you go to an Authentic "Asian Restaurant" and all the cooks are....?
i think that would be weird because they are not from asia so they dont know as much

Well, no matter who cooks the dishes, as long as you follow the recipe, the food is going to be authentic.



Also be informed that once the cuisine is offered outside its own country, the dishes are tailored to suit the palate of the local population there. So in other words, authentic is not really authentic once its out of it original country.
if u can cook it then hey! would you rather they hire a robot to cook and serve you??
Ummmm. Hate to tell you this but most Japanese people would not consider Benihana's to be a Japanese restaurant.



The style of cooking on a flat grill is called teppanyaki. But the showmanship of flipping the ingredients and chopping with a knife like some kind of martial artist is all for show and not part of the real deal.



A better way of judging whether or not a restaurant is "authentic" is by observing who the customers are. While you may not be able to tell a Japanese person from a Chinese person or a German person from a Russian person based solely on appearance, I would be somewhat hesitant to try a Chinese restaurant where all the patrons were Caucasian. Would you try a Mexican restaurant where all the patrons were Asian?



So, the bottom line is: good food is good food no matter who cooks it. But authentic is not where the cooks are, it's where the customers are.

I don't know, but Mexican workers cook the best Chinese food.



I think a lot Asian restaurant have to make a profit, because their food is cheap. The smaller the restaurant the more incentive they have to hire illegals and cheaps taxes. So a lot of the Latinos cooks are probably illegals, although, the majority is legit.
