Can you hear it? It is the oohs and aaahs of the people around you. It is the ordering of another Kirin Beer or the sipping of Saki... These dinners have always been an experience. The chef cooking and flipping of the food. What matters the most is who you are with. It is the experience of the laughs and smiles you will get with the person you are with. It doesn't matter if one chef is better than another. It only has mattered that I have gone on some really kick *** dates, fun birthday get togethers, things such as this. You will have fun. The one in Dallas I have visited many times. It is like stepping into another world of dining adventure. The smells of cooking oil, the bamboo around as decor., the sunken bar as you walk in. You will realize that after you Valet Park, and you walk across the bridge over the pond, that this is when the smiles will start, nothing will ruin your evening, no matter of the better chef, or whatever. Just kick back, relax, have an Iced Tea, Saki, Japanese Beer, or a Jack and Coke. I am excited for you. Good luck, and have an incredible dining experience. Kyle
There are no differences in any other Japanese steakhouses. No, you will not sit on the floor. You will sit at a rectangular table on a chair surround by a huge stove grill. When the table is full with enough people then the chef comes in and starts to give a "show" while cooking in front of you. It is all about entertaining and great food. Be prepared for food tossing in the mouth and high flames. These things will not hurt you, its all in good fun food and entertainment. Your chef maybe be funny and interactive or he can be dull. But they basically know what they are doing. Can anyone tell me about the Benihanas experience?
No you dont sit on the floor... Over-rated...
It's about having fun and being entertained by the chef. No, you sit at the counter to counteract with the chef.
No, you don't sit on the floor. You sit at a rectangular table with a teppan grill as the center. The whole experience is about watching the chef prepare your food. These people get paid to entertain you and will make shows with fire and throwing food, etc. The atmosphere and experience are always good, as well as the food. You can find other places with similar styles, but usually lower price points, by looking for other "teppan" places in your area.
At Benihana our food is not only cooked it's choreographed. Our chefs will have you craving for more as they slice and dice your meal before your eyes. Highly skilled and trained in the art of “eatertainment” your personal chef will perform as they cook such favorites as steak, chicken, seafood and fresh vegetables in traditional Japanese style on a hibachi table. Come in today to witness first hand what has become the longest running dinner show in the world. Although reservations are not required, they are recommended.
Some japenesse places but not all Benihanas have this choice...
You have choices of sitting in private room on the floor w/ no shoes, you can sit at the group tables which means it will be you and your party plus other parties until the cooking area tables are full. You will have a chef prepare your choice of food right before your eyes and he will be sort of fun (food choices limited)
You could also sit at the sushi bar which is always my pref. and they have regular tables as well
It really depends on the chef you get how good of a show you will get. Some are better than others. I always enjoy it, as does everyone else but it can be a bit disappointing to see a chef put on a better show at a nearby table. No you do not sit on the floor.
