I have worked for other cruise lines as a bass player in the house band backing up the entertainers. I am wondering if DCL does the same, or do they get out the cheap way and use prerecorded tracks for their shows?Does Disney Cruise Lines hire real musicians for their show band?
Hi Drillshaft - I just saw your reply now to my answer and when reading it - you are right - it reads like they only hire complete bands (also the show band itself) - and do not bother in hiring single musicians for the showband. I have not been on Disney and the people I know which have - would not know.
It looks like you would need to get your own showband first together and then apply - or maybe go through an entertainment agency which would put the showband together and then get a placement for the band ?
EDIT:
Where I worked, all the other bands/duos/trios and whatever where hired as a band.
The showband was (from the cruise line) hired as a band as well. We had a concessionaire for the entertainment and they supplied the dancers, the singers and the complete showband.
So, from the cruise lines point of view, they never hired a single musician to be part in the showband.
Whereas the musician himself was a single contracted musician - but to the concession we had there. And that does not mean, that the musicians had met before or played before together.
Paramount and Jean Ann Ryan come to mind as concessions which provided the entire lot.Does Disney Cruise Lines hire real musicians for their show band?
I believe Disney cruise line does let people. Idk If they do but again as I said I am 90% sure.
