We were thinking about going on a disney cruise this May in 2010. On one website I found, it said that passport cards were not needed but recommended for cruises that would begin in the US %26amp; end in the US. (cruise goes from Florida-Bahamas-Florida) and that children under 16 were exempt from the whole passport ordeal. But on the disney cruise line website it says that guests are responsible for getting proper documentation to board the ships %26amp; they encourage guests of all ages to get a passport. I am confused now. Should we get the passports-and will they accept the passport cards?Disney cruises and passports...?
For a closed-loop cruise (starting and finishing at the same U.S. port) you can still use your U.S. birth certificate as proof of citizenship and a government issued ID (state driver's license or ID). Minors below 16 do not need ID, the birth certificate suffices. Obtaining a passport card is not required going on a closed-loop Disney cruise. Most cruise lines however recommend to have a passport book which enables flights in emergency cases.

Trust the Disney Cruise site. That is the official site and you should trust it.Disney cruises and passports...?
From State Dept website:
Effective June 1, 2009, all U.S. citizens are now required to present a passport book, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document when entering the United States.
Please Note: Children under age 16 will be able to continue crossing land and sea borders using only a U.S. birth certificate (or other form of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate.). The original birth certificate or a copy may be used. See the Department of Homeland Security's Ready, Set.. Go! for more information on the changing travel requirements.
Well I went on a disney cruise four years ago, and then u could either have birth certificets and IDs or just the passport, now it may have changed and passports may be manditory.
ps: I highly recomend the disney cruises, they are great!! very fun. and to answer ur question, to be on the safe side, I'd get the passport, much easier too.
please help?
